About the Role

The UIP Frontend PaaS team at Atlassian is responsible for managing the infrastructure and capabilities required to host Atlassian's frontend applications. This includes the a Server-side Rendering as a platform, and a reliable, secure, and performant hosting service for frontend apps.

As the Senior Engineering Manager of the UIP Frontend PaaS team, you will lead a team of experts dedicated to maintaining and improving this critical platform, ensuring it continues to deliver exceptional performance and reliability at scale.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Manage team workload, balancing run-the-business (RTB) activities and development productivity (DevProd) efforts.

  • Oversee the operation and continuous improvement of the team’s key services.

  • Ensure platform performance, reliability, and security.

  • Monitor and analyze platform performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with product teams to integrate and optimize frontend infrastructure, understanding their needs and ensure platform support.

  • Lead the team in responding to incidents, providing expert advice and ensuring timely resolution.

  • Develop and implement processes to reduce the frequency and impact of incidents.

  • Define the roadmap for platform capabilities, and communicating these capabilities and improvements to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience running high reliability, large-scale services - 10billion req/mo at 99.99% reliability

  • Experience working with AWS & Kubernetes

  • Experience working with Node.js and Typescript
