Are you a maker who loves to build teams and products to solve real problems for customers? Atlassian is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join Product Engineering Organisation reporting into a Head of Engineering

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will work with our product management and design teams to deliver incrementally, experiment to explore new ideas, and focus on continuous improvement in every aspect of what we do.

You will manage a group of 10-18 engineers and mentor and support them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

What you'll do

  • Support your team by holding regular one on ones, giving context on priorities, collaborating with other teams, unblocking projects, and resolving conflicts.

  • Hire and grow your team members careers, participate in hiring planning and other budgeting exercises

  • Enable your multi-functional team to ship features quickly and safely whilst managing a large team, providing them with the tooling and processes needed for success.

  • Collaborate in technical/architectural discussions, provide direction and drive decision-making and operational excellence, encouraging innovation and quality.

  • Be both a technical leader and people manager responsible for guiding your team to make solid technical decisions.

  • Own the delivery of critical projects and help to coordinate the team’s work alongside your product management and design peers.

  • Partner with leadership, stakeholders, cross-functional teams to drive outcomes aligned to company and organisational goals.

  • Identify blockers, goals, success metrics ensuring awareness, OKR/roadmap, and expectations

Qualifications

Your background

  • 5+ years of experience managing software engineers.

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.

  • You’re able to spar with senior engineers on systems design, pulling from your background as a hands-on engineer.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing dev-ops best practices.

  • Excited to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • You have experience communicating with teams, partners, customers in async- and remote-friendly working practices.

  • You know how to pick the right communication tool for the problem at hand (chat, video, email, etc.).
