What is Commerce at Atlassian?
Commerce is a foundational platform at Atlassian that powers how customers discover, try, buy, and manage our products. It underpins quoting, billing, subscription and payment experiences across every Atlassian product and customer segment.
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will own core components within the in-house Commerce Platform. This role is for a systems-oriented builder who partners closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams to shape scalable commerce capabilities and reduce friction. While the title says "Program Manager," the expectation is product ownership and leadership of a significant technical platform.
Analyze business objectives, customer needs, product adoption inhibitors, and industry trends to define the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for core components of the Commerce Platform.
Own product vision and execution for key systems such as entitlements, billing integrations, quoting infrastructure, and platform services.
Translate business needs into clear, prioritized technical problems—driving solutions in areas such as system scalability, product migrations, API evolution, and cloud services integration.
Define specific systems programs and create actionable execution plans, including capacity planning, redesign initiatives, and new capability development.
Partner deeply with engineering and architecture teams to influence design decisions and deliver platform services that are scalable, extensible, and performant.
Drive technical program execution using a systematic approach: scope initiatives, define clear success metrics, manage interdependencies, and ensure consistent progress and delivery.
Lead full lifecycle management of complex programs—from discovery through implementation—aligning with cross-functional teams.
Manage broad program scopes with multiple workstreams across the company, ensuring alignment to Atlassian’s business and operational goals.
Define and manage KPIs to track adoption, reliability, and platform health, using data to drive decisions and communicate trade-offs.
Drive architectural discovery, contribute to roadmap planning, and balance long-term investments with immediate delivery pressures.
Ensure high-clarity communication with executive stakeholders, advocating for your domain and championing long-term technical strategy.
Required
8+ years of product management experience with at least 3 years focused on technical platform or infrastructure products.
Experience building or owning components in a billing, commerce, or quote-to-cash platform.
Proven ability to work with engineering on scalable, extensible platform solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially across functions like finance, sales ops, and product teams.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, influence across orgs, and drive clarity and alignment.
Preferred
Experience with SaaS billing and subscription models.
Background in computer science or engineering.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
