We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager within the Australian or New Zealand time zones. You’ll lead a team of talented engineers focused on improving the performance of Jira, targeting the high-traffic experiences in the product. This team is at the heart of delivering a seamless, fast, and reliable experience for our customers. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to ensure that Jira continues to set the standard for performance and usability.
On your first day, we'll expect you to:
Lead and inspire a team of engineers to deliver performant, scalable, and maintainable frontend solutions.
Drive technical excellence by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Partner with stakeholders across the organization to align on priorities and deliver impactful outcomes.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship, particularly in areas of JavaScript, frontend architecture, and performance optimization.
Champion best practices for writing performant code and ensure the team adheres to high engineering standards.
Build and grow a high-performing team by hiring, developing, and retaining top talent.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the Jira Frontend Platform organization.
Proven experience as an engineering manager, leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong technical foundation in frontend development, with expertise in JavaScript, modern frameworks (e.g., React), and performance optimization techniques.
A track record of delivering performant and scalable web applications.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and align teams around a shared vision.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across product, design, and engineering.
Passion for mentoring and developing engineers to reach their full potential.
Experience working on large-scale, complex web applications.
Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and techniques.
A deep understanding of frontend architecture and design patterns.
A passion for solving challenging technical problems and delivering exceptional user experiences.
