Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Product Designer to help us shape the next generation of Atlassian’s developer ecosystem and marketplace.

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about designing elegant experiences at scale? Do you thrive on creating clarity in complex systems? We are looking for a Lead Product Designer who’ll play a key role in our Ecosystem team, which is responsible for the journey and experience of people who build on top of our Atlassian platform.This is a complex, challenging and exciting space! You will be joining an organization consisting of multiple teams across Australia, India and the US.

As a passionate and high-performing designer, you will lead and contribute to high-impact project work, all of which is in the service of building a robust, easy-to-use and successful developer platform. You will partner and collaborate with other Ecosystem Platform designers and design teams across the company. Together, you will create high-quality experiences that feel like they came from ‘the hand of one designer’ and communicate a strong point of view. Contributing to design and enterprise experience in this space means you will focus on expanding our over 250,000 customer base in 190 countries, having direct impact for tens of thousands of customers and millions of users!

Through our Cloud Development platform, Forge, we enable third parties and customers to build solutions that extend beyond our core offering and customize Atlassian apps to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Drive systems design thinking across the ecosystem, iterating on our conceptual model to simplify complex workflows and improve the consistency, scalability, and personality of UX/UI patterns.

  • Maintain a high visual design bar by crafting cohesive, visually engaging designs that balance function with form, using grids, layouts, and advanced compositions to create delightful user experiences.

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers, engineers, and designers to identify and solve customer pain points, aligning user needs with business priorities across Atlassian.

  • Coach and mentor designers at all levels, offering actionable feedback and fostering growth in their craft and confidence in their contributions.

  • Translate product strategies into narratives with actionable goals, clearly communicating design intentions and ensuring alignment with team OKRs, customer outcomes, and broader organizational objectives.

  • Balance leadership and hands-on execution by driving your own strategic initiatives while ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality designs through other team members.

  • Use design research and data insights to inform and validate your work, setting up iterative testing processes to continuously refine and improve designs.

Qualifications

About You

  • 10+ years of product design experience designing complex or enterprise-level software

  • Highly desirable for you to have worked with teams building developer experiences or design systems

  • Experience in end-to-end UX / product design to design impactful solutions to challenging problems

  • Passion for storytelling, the ability to bring design direction to life with compelling narrative

  • Experience balancing customer needs with business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility

  • Facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills - you can demonstrate the ability to integrate the work of multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions that lead company-wide outcomes

  • Experience in design systems, the ability to identify common components required to support a wide array of customer use cases

  • Experience measuring success with qualitative and quantitative methods
