As a Principal Data Scientist in Atlassian’s App Ecosystem, you will play a strategic and technical leadership role, guiding analytics initiatives that shape how customers and partners leverage emerging AI technologies to build innovative apps. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and business leaders to inform platform strategy, drive measurement culture, and deliver insights that accelerate ecosystem growth and adoption of AI-powered solutions. By driving projects individually or as tech lead, mentoring data scientists, and championing best practices, you’ll foster a world-class analytics culture and ensure Atlassian remains at the forefront of extensibility and intelligence in the SaaS landscape.

Work with complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches.
Apply technical expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop strategies for our products that serve billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses.
Identify and measure success of product efforts through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring of key product metrics to understand trends.
Define, understand, and test opportunities and levers to improve the product, and drive roadmaps through your insights and recommendations
Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions
8+ Years of Experience in Data Science or related fields
Proficiency in SQL AND another data manipulation programming language (e.g Python, R)
Expertise at telling stories with data and familiarity with at least one visualization tool (e.g. Tableau, R-Shiny, Microstrategy, SAP Business Objects, Looker, etc.)
Expertise in applying a broad variety of statistical concepts (e.g. regressions, A/B tests, clustering, probability) to business problems and a strong sense of when to adapt/combine approaches to suit the problem at hand
Experience driving projects or programs which have had proven impact on business strategy and performance through your analytics skills
A proven track record for crafting analysis into well-written content
Experience advising, presenting to and serving as a thought partner to senior executives
10+ Years of Experience in Data Science or related fields
An understanding of the SaaS business model and key metrics
